Choosing a Sydney Accommodation - Six Great Places to Stay

Booking a great hotel is the first step in planning for an enjoyable vacation. Even the most exciting vacation experience can be diminished by an unpleasant hotel stay. When your hotel is relaxing, clean and fun, you will be much more satisfied with your entire vacation. Here are six places you might want to think about when choosing your Sydney accommodation.

In the Rocks area of Sydney, you can find the Shangri-La Hotel. This hotel is conveniently located near Sydney's Maritime Museum and the Sydney Opera House, as well as other famous attractions. The Shangri-La boasts services such as a beauty salon and masseuse on-site. They will even watch your kids for you if you want to go out for a night on the town. There is a gym, sauna and indoor heated pool. They have access to the internet available for guests and you can see the city from the hotel bar.

The Radisson Plaza Hotel is not as pricey as the Shangri-La, but it is still on the expensive side. They also have a heated indoor pool and a sauna. There is a gym available for fitness buffs or you can enjoy the use of the high speed internet access from your room. Balcony rooms are available. In these rooms, you can look out over the city from the terrace.

The Observatory Hotel is the hotel of choice for those who want to relax and enjoy a pampering spa treatment. The day spa at the hotel offers a wide variety of services, from facials to massage. There is a treatment that uses hot lava rocks to relieve the tension in your muscles, or you can just opt for a manicure or pedicure. When you're done with your day in the spa, you can swim in the indoor heated pool, play tennis or work out in the gym.

If you want a good view, you should think about staying at the Blue Sydney a Taj Hotel on Cowper Wharf. The rooms on the wharf side have great views. Avoid the rooms on the city side unless you like to be awakened by the bright glare of sunlight early in the morning. The Blue Sydney a Taj Hotel resides in an old wharf building that has been beautifully restored and remodeled. It's worth coming by just to admire the architecture and decor. There are many wonderful restaurants right on the wharf within walking distance.

The Four Points by Sheraton also offers some incredible views. The deluxe rooms look out over Cockle Bay and Darling Harbor. The rooms on the opposite side of the hotel are the standard rooms. The view from the standard rooms is of the city. High speed internet is available and if you want to keep up with your workout, you can make use of the gym. Child care and dry cleaning services are offered by the hotel. Unfortunately, the Four Points does not have a pool.

The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel is a great choice for beer lovers. The hotel bar serves several award-winning ales. The beer is brewed by the owner of the hotel and is enjoyed by tourists and locals alike. In fact, the hotel bar is one of the local hangouts, although hotel guests are always made to feel welcome. The Lord Nelson only has nine rooms and one of them has no bathroom, so make sure you book your stay early to ensure that you can get a good room.

There are hotels for all price ranges and tastes in Sydney, so no matter what type of accommodation you are looking for, there is something available to please you. These six hotels are just a taste of the many different types of lodging you will find waiting for you in Sydney.
